Why is it I don’t offer colour boosts prices for brows not done by me?

July 3, 2019 By Nay

This can be a touchy subject, I totally get why, you had your brows done elsewhere but for some reason you want to come to me for a colour boost, why should you pay full price when you already have brows?

I can only guarantee work that was done by my own hands, on skin with no previous pigment, that is my design, pattern of strokes, my pigments, I know how they fade and therefore I know that a colour boost treatment will be enough to get that brow back to it’s original condition. Colour boost treatments are therefore only available to clients that had their brows originally done by myself.

Any existing pigment on your brows is classed as a cover up, which in fact, if you ask anyone in the industry, is a lot bloody harder to do than creating a brow from scratch… you do the maths…

If you already have pigment on your skin, the stroke pattern may be different from mine, you may have major fading in some areas and not so much on others, your strokes may have blurred into one solid colour, your shape may need adjusting, or they may have just faded too much. The ONLY way I can guarantee good results is with a full treatment, which includes a top up procedure four to six weeks after the original treatment for any tweaking to be done. But this option is really only possible on brows that have faded quite a bit and are almost non existent.

Now I have to mention the brows that I wouldn’t touch, if your brows are solid quite saturated in colour there may be nothing I can do to help, you may need removal sessions to lighten your existing pigment before I can do my magic.

There are a number of reasons you may not want to go back to the person that did them in the first place and most times it is because you’re not 100% happy with them and they need changes made to them. I am more than happy to help and am honoured you consider having them done with me, but please understand I am limited to what I can do depending on the amount of pigment you already have in your skin and that you may not be able to have strokes, in this case, shading works a treat!

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your brows please email me on naysbeauty@hotmail.com

Microblading or Machine?

March 23, 2017 By Nay

I first trained in semi permanent make up 3 years ago, back then, microblading wasn’t so popular. I then, trained in microblading with Rebecca Chung in February 2016. To this day, my preferred way of creating brows is using a machine, for me, it’s the method I find creates the finest hairsrokes.

Microblading has boomed in the last couple of years and it’s the word people now use for eyebrow tattooing, this confuses quite a lot of people, so I’ve decided to put these three methods together and compare them for you.

I will start with tattooing…

Tattooing is done by inserting ink, dyes and pigments, into the dermis layer of the skin using a manual or electric device to create artistic designs. The designs last forever as the body cells and parts of the skin, such as fibroblasts, suck up the tattoo ink. Traditional tattoos placed on the face can fade dramatically in a very short time, instead of fading out naturally, they can turn blue/green and generally looking terrible quite quickly. There are people out there claiming to do semi permanent make up brows and what clients are getting is a real tattoo, please do your research!

Then we have semi permanent make up (spmu)…

Semi permanent make up is a form of tattooing, the similarity between spmu and tattooing is the process, which involves applying pigment into the skin with needles, the skin then heals, leaving the pigment residue where you placed it. The cosmetic pigment used is specifically made for the face. But it is most definitely not the same as a tattoo. Spmu is intended to be natural looking enhancements, whereas tattoos are designed to look very visible on the skin. The machine used is not as powerful as the traditional tattooing devices and the pigment is placed on the upper layers of the skin, that allows the pigment to fade over time, and is the reason why spmu doesn’t last forever. A spmu treatment done by me will last up to 2 years and a colour boost every 12-18 months is recommended to refresh the colour and shape of brows.

And finally, microblading…

Microblading consists in implanting pigment into the skin with the use of a manual tool (like a pen) and a blade formed by 9-18 super fine needles. It uses the same pigments that artists have been using for semi permanent make up treatments since the 80’s, the one I use is LI Pigments, they heal beautifully soft and don’t change colour as the brow fades over the years. Microblading lasts up to 2 years and a yearly colour boost is recommended.

Like I said at the beginning of this article, my favorite way of creating brows is by using a machine and a 1 point liner needle, 95% of my work you see on my social media is done by machine, I can microblade if you are very specific about it but the machine method is the technique I have mastered, love and guarantee great results with when it comes to hairstrokes.

I hope this clarifies the different methods of semi permanent make up available out there. Do your research before booking a treatment, you want to look for high hygiene standards, insured professionals, loads of updated before and after pictures.

Love, Nay x

I can’t wait to step back into work and I know y I can’t wait to step back into work and I know you can’t wait to step into the studio too 🤍

It is great news there is a possibility I can reopen on the 12th of April, as this date is not definite and just guidance for now, and knowing the government is known for “leaving it till the last minute to confirm” I won’t be moving any appointments yet, on the week commencing 5th of April I will contact one by one, in order of booked appointments starting from the 4th of January so it’s fair for everyone that had their appointments cancelled. Once all appointments from January, February and March are rescheduled I will then allow new bookings, for the time being only for regular clients.

🤍 So if you had your appointment cancelled please don’t worry, you will be booked back in on the earliest availability.
🤍 If you haven’t got a appointment yet, bare with me, once I can take bookings I will reopen my diary and let you all know.
💔 If you’re a new client wanting to book in, I’m so sorry, I am not taking new clients until I can see all my regulars which may take a few months.

Lots of love to you all 💋
🚨 Random post alert 😆 I’ve been gone fro 🚨 Random post alert 😆

I’ve been gone from my business Instagram for far too long as it’s been quite hard to keep brow motivated during this lockdown I have to admit... So I’m here to show you what I’ve been up to, well, my husband mostly 🤣, I tidy up, paint and keep him fed and strong so he can do all the hard work!
SWIPE ⬅️ TO SEE THE BEFORE!
I confess I don’t like renovating, it’s been rewarding and I’m sure it will be amazing when it’s all done but I can’t deal with the stress and just want it to be done already! There’s still lots to do but most of the ground floor of the house is done now with finishing touches and decorating to do.

When we bought the house it had a working chimney but a electric stove instead of a real one 🤯 definitely one of the things we really wanted to get done and it came just in time for the cold weather we’ve had 🤍
Love our mantel from @oldwoodmadegood sourced locally, you must check his page for all the BEAUTIFUL things he makes out of reclaimed wood! 🪵

😲 This is a question I get on regular basis, I 😲

This is a question I get on regular basis, I guess people don’t see the risk in ‘just having their brows done’.

Truth is, the treatment is a form of tattooing and comes with risks, specially during pregnancy where your body is a lot more prone to infections.

This could vary from practitioner to practitioner as the industry in the UK is not properly regulated (yes, you will find people out there willing to tattoo pregnant woman 😯) but when it comes to semi permanent make up, a practitioner’s insurance is invalid if treating pregnant or breastfeeding clients for obvious reasons.

The effects the treatment could have on the unborn child are unknown purely because no studies have been carried out to prove otherwise.

During pregnancy, the skin reacts differently to any products and it’s not different when it comes to the brow pigment, you could suffer from a allergic reaction which can range from mild to life threatening.

So it’s a big fat no when it comes to pregnancy and breastfeeding but it doesn’t stop you from booking in for after your bundle of joy arrives and having something to look forward to 🤍

This is lockdown Nay! I embraced the no make up This is lockdown Nay!

I embraced the no make up look as I turned into a full time mummy, painter and decorator, cook, cleaner. I am no longer able create brows which I’m yet to get used to, my days before Covid were filled with brows and client chats and I tell you this, I miss it.
But I’m grateful for the time I’m now able to spend with my baby which is time I’ll never get back, I’m grateful I can get hands on with our house renovation which I wouldn’t have time for otherwise.
Thinking positive one day at a time is my moto these days 🙌🏽
